What is a locked room mystery?
I’ve seen several definitions of a locked room mystery, but for this post, I’m going to concentrate on one definition in particular.
In this case, a locked room mystery is one which is set in a secluded location or one in which people cannot move in and out of. Some examples of settings are secluded islands, a moving train or boat, or even a hotel or resort in which people are unable to leave because of a storm, blizzard, or other circumstance.
In some cases, the body is found behind a locked door where no one should have been able to go in and out of.
The Best Locked Room Mystery Books
I’ve found both classic and modern locked room mysteries for this list. Some authors are quite prolific with this sub-genre (like Agatha Christie and Lucy Foley) and other authors have only written one or a couple. But, all are worth picking up if you’re looking for a thrilling and suspenseful read.
