It was just one chance meeting that changed the trajectory of Martha Teichner’s life and gave us this heart-warming story. The story began when Teichner learned of a woman dying of cancer who needed to find a new home for her Bull Terrier Harry. Teichner loved Bull Terriers and had one of her own, Minnie, who needed a companion. This chance meeting was serendipity.

While the premise of When Harry Met Minnie centers around the adoption of Harry, this book is about so much more. It’s a story of instant connection, deep friendships, cancer, death, and handling the end of life without family to help. At times it was a tear-jerker and at times my heart swelled with love. All in all, I am very glad I picked up this book to read. It was a lovely story.

This book is perfect for dog lovers and anyone that values a treasured friendship. It may be a hard book for anyone that is still raw from a recent loss (particularly from cancer), but it is one that would be appreciated once things aren’t so raw.
